Sustainability and the Environment

Chapco take their Corporate Social responsibilities seriously and we understand. For many years we have contributed greatly to the local economy. Our association and the partnership with a divers range of clients has enabled us to employ a local workforce for both operational and back of house functions. Wherever possible we use local suppliers for the purchase of equipment, materials and consumables, helping us to reduce our vehicle mileage and overall impact on the environment. Our vehicle fleet is modern and fuel efficient and we have invested a reed bed sewer waste management system at our Bittesby head office.

We are at present reviewing our energy supply with a view to ensuring a proportion of what we use is from sustainable sources.

We constantly challenge our methods and have recently been involved in the design of leading edge, sustainable building technology projects, involving the harvesting of rain water and the development of solar energy heating systems.

In many of our landscaping activities we have developed maintenance programmes that support a diverse range of wildlife habitats in areas dominated by humans and industrial activity. By doing so, we follow the governments strategy on biodiversity by ensuring we consider the impact of our actions on the environment, explore ways to reduce any impact and the inclusion of biodiversity indicators and measures where applicable.

We continue to support local charities, sports teams and good causes as we believe these are a vital contributor to the overall well being of a harmonious and balanced community.

Chapco harbours a strong held belief that the role of business should stretch much further than just being an employer.
